It supports up to two 8-core Intel Xeon processors and high-density memory designs with twelve DDR3 RDIMM slots. This 1U-high System x3530 M4 is built on IBM X-Architecture, consolidates storage and server as one, offers easy management, and saves floor space and power consumption, costing less money than traditional enterprise offerings.
The IBM x3530 M4 system is a new offering to fast growing market segments. It is positioned as a general business 1U, two processor sockets value rack server with competitive price point with scalability, the right combination of cost, density, features and efficiency, optimized for entry price point with simplified up selling for Business infrastructure: File & print, web serving, Web 2.0, virtualization, Light database, ERP applications, small HPC install and for a fuller range of clients: Small Medium business, Large enterprise running infrastructure applications.
The IBM System x3530 M4 server delivers dual-socket performance in 1U compact footprint. It includes the latest Intel Xeon E5-2400 series processors, powerful multicore design to satisfy various customer needs. The Sandy Bridge-EN processors with QPI has a three-channel memory interface with two DIMM slots per channel.
It supports up to Twelve DIMM slots with 2nd processor installed with enabled deployment of up to 192 GB of DDR3 SDRAM Registered DIMM memory.
It includes High-performance hot-swap SAS and SATA HDDs. Hot-swap SATA/SAS models support HW RAID-0/1/10 (optional 5/50) or 0/1/10/5/50 (optional 6/20) with 256 MB or 512 MB cache w/ optional battery.
System supports an optional optical drive in the System Rack Drawer 2.5′ model only. There are four Ethernet ports, one is dedicated or shared for system management.
The system includes up to two hot-pluggable 460W or 675W-HE redundant power supplies. Another choice is the use of one 460W fixed power supply for a lower cost solution. The system also offers High-availability features such as RAID, Memory RAS configurability, and hot-plug power supplies.
There are two front views to the system x3530 M4 system. The System Rack Drawer 2.5′ Model, which is at the top, and the System Rack Drawer 3.5′ Model used for both Simple Swap or Hot-Swap at the bottom. Both views have identifiers for the location of the Lightpath module, the USB ports, and the VGA port. The expanded views are diagrams of the newly designed Lightpath front panel which helps to identify system failures without opening the chassis or interrupting system operations. Optional upgrade to Lightpath Kit provides richer system serviceability.
